Okay, I'll be honest — when I first booted up Super Ninja Adventure I thought it was going to be a breezy little platformer. Run right, jump over things, slash some enemies. Done. About twenty minutes later I was staring at a "Game Over" screen for the fifth time, wondering what exactly I was doing wrong. Turns out, quite a lot.

After spending a lot of time with this game — probably more than I should admit — I've collected everything that actually made a difference to my scores. Not vague advice like "get better at timing." Actual, specific things you can apply on your very next run.

Understand the Momentum System First

The single biggest mistake beginners make in Super Ninja Adventure is treating it like a stop-and-go platformer. It isn't. The game rewards you heavily for maintaining forward momentum. Every time you stop to hesitate before a jump, you're not just losing time — you're losing the rhythm that makes the whole run feel smooth and, more importantly, you're losing the combo multiplier.

Think of it like this: the game wants you to flow, not crawl. Once I stopped treating every gap as a potential death trap and started trusting my speed, my scores jumped significantly. The physics feel a little floaty at first, but they're very consistent. Once you internalize the jump arc, you can predict exactly where you'll land.

  • Build up a running start before any large gap — your jump distance scales with your speed
  • Don't stop on platforms unless you absolutely need to reorient yourself
  • Use the slash attack mid-air to extend your horizontal distance slightly — this was a game-changer for me
  • If you miss a jump and grab a ledge, use the momentum from the pull-up to immediately keep running

Learn Enemy Patterns Before You Try to Fight Through

Early on I tried to slash every single enemy I encountered. Bad idea. Some enemies — especially the armoured guards in the later sections — take multiple hits and will knock you back, killing your momentum entirely. The smarter play, at least until you're comfortable, is to identify which enemies are worth fighting and which ones you should simply jump over.

Ground-level grunt enemies are almost always worth slashing because they give you combo points and don't slow you down much. Flying enemies, on the other hand, require you to time a jumping slash, which is a skill that takes practice. Don't try it during your first few runs. Just duck under them or run past if there's room.

Once you've done a level a couple of times and you know where every enemy is positioned, you can start building deliberate kill chains. A five-enemy kill chain in quick succession multiplies your point total in a way that single kills simply can't match.

The Combo Multiplier Is Where the Real Points Live

I didn't fully appreciate this until I watched a high-score run and saw how differently the top players approached the game. They weren't just completing levels — they were timing their kills to keep the combo counter alive the entire time.

The combo counter resets if too much time passes between kills or scoring actions. The key insight is that certain environmental interactions — smashing pots, hitting special targets, grabbing collectibles in quick succession — also count toward the combo. You don't have to chain only enemy kills.

  • Plan your route through each level to pass through collectible clusters and enemy groups in sequence
  • Use the wall-jump to reach elevated platforms quickly — many of the best combo routes go up, not just forward
  • The dash attack (double-tap the movement key) covers ground fast and can connect combo hits across larger distances
  • If your combo is about to expire, even breaking a crate counts — don't let it die if there's anything nearby to hit

Don't Ignore the Secret Paths

Super Ninja Adventure has a habit of hiding alternate routes behind breakable walls, above standard sight lines, and through passages that look like dead ends. These paths almost always contain higher-value collectibles and, crucially, they often set you up for better combo opportunities than the main route does.

The tell is usually a slightly different texture on a wall, or a suspicious gap in the ceiling that seems too inviting. When you see something that looks a little off, try attacking it or jumping toward it. I've found secret paths that cut significant time off levels and added thousands of points to my final score.

Don't spend so much time hunting secrets that you lose your combo, though. On runs where you're going for a high score, stick to secrets you've already discovered and know the location of.

Mobile vs Desktop: Adjust Your Expectations

Playing on desktop with a keyboard gives you a precision advantage, particularly for the dash attack and the wall-jump timing. The on-screen controls on mobile are perfectly functional, but they do add a small layer of imprecision that matters on tight jumps. If you're playing on mobile, I'd recommend spending more time on earlier levels to really build the muscle memory, because you won't get the tactile feedback from physical keys.

One tip specifically for mobile: use your thumbs in a split position — left thumb for movement, right thumb for jump and attack. Don't try to cram both functions onto one side. It sounds obvious but I spent an embarrassing amount of time fumbling the controls before I repositioned my grip.

The Death Isn't the End of the Run — Use It

Here's something a bit counterintuitive: dying in a level still teaches you something. Even when I fail a run, I make a mental note of exactly what killed me. Was it a timing issue? An enemy I didn't see coming? A gap I misjudged? After enough deaths in the same spot, I stop seeing it as failure and start seeing it as a map of where the difficulty is concentrated.

Once you know the hard parts, you can start preparing for them earlier in the run — slowing down just slightly before a tricky section, making sure your health is topped up, keeping a dash charge ready. The game becomes a lot more manageable when you stop treating every obstacle as a surprise.
